In any society, people have different mentalities and behavior. It is hard for people to live in harmony when they can’t understand their behavior and life systems. Behavior refers to any observation or response to any measurable action of an individual or an organism, and genetics, experiences, and environment, among others, are some of the factors that influence it. It is, therefore, essential to do behavioral analysis at any given time for more understanding.
Behavior analysis is the scientific study of behavior based on development, functioning, and change involving a systematic application of learning principles to understand and modify human and animal behavior. It uses different methods or techniques such as observation, measurement, and experimental to identify factors that influence behavior and possible positive intervention easily. The analysis helps overcome behavioral vises like addiction, phobias, and anxiety to help improve behaviors.
However, there has been a lot of criticism concerning behavioral matters. Lack of individualization is one of the major concerns as it generalizes the approach where there is no uniqueness of an issue in an individual addressed. Another big concern is cultural insensitivity, where failure to address cultural differences and practices is not considered, meaning there is no uniqueness in handling a particular matter. Inadequate communication is another major setback as it does not provide enough details and emphasizes communication skills development which is a significant concern to any behavioral analysis.
Behavioral analysis issues can bring problems in the field in the following stated ways:-
* Limited individualization, where there is often no specification of the approach, leads to less analysis effectiveness.
* Less consideration for the factors affecting culture and social life, which might not address the behaviors fully.
* Ethical concerns are where there can be a violation of human rights and physical harm to the individuals unless the interventions are honest and consistent.
* Less emphasis on positive reinforcement where the approach can be based on punishment-based intervention. It can widely affect the behavioral change of individuals.
