Background and issues of the proposed research
Oxytocin is a hormone that is produced in the brain and released into the bloodstream. It is best known for its role in reproduction, but it also plays a role in social and emotional behaviors. Oxytocin is sometimes called the "love hormone" because it is involved in bonding between people. (Acevedo-Rodriguez et al, 2015) It is also thought to play a role in trust, generosity, and empathy. Some research suggests that oxytocin might be involved in autism and other disorders that affect social interactions. However, more research is needed to understand the role of oxytocin in these conditions.
