Certain influential historical psychologists investigated themes that are now classified as industrial psychology. Scott was a forerunner in marketing, management, and staff development psychology. The Carnegie Institute of Technology hired Scott to conduct a practical study on employee selection. This research focused on what is today known as industrial psychology. Organizational psychology evolved as an experimental discipline until later in the century.
Industrial psychologists teach people to gain particular job-related abilities, whereas organizational psychologists place these trained employees in positions that would improve the organization's efficiency. Industrial psychology focuses on recruitment, hiring, performance, management, training and development, and job classification, while organizational phycology focuses on leadership, teams, organizations, growth, change management, and employee experience.
The historical development was computational Modeling. Organizational behavior theories are utilized to build computer models and airplane cockpits that create reactions that recycle and become inputs for subsequent iterations (Truxillo, Bauer and Erdogan, 2021). Computational models have proven tremendously valuable for expanding cognition psychology and organizational theory; their usage in industrial/organizational psychology is just getting started (Latham, 2019).
