In the early childhood school life, parents should never allow children to play video games during the school days of the week. The only ideal opportunity for them to play video games is on Saturdays and on public holidays. Instead of playing video games, parents should encourage them to read a lot and to practice arithmetic. Their childhood should be full of action and no room should be left for idling or passive occupations. In school, the focus should be always class work, physical exercise, or private studies. At school, children should hear their classmates discussing their experience with video games, in families where they are allowed the liberty to play all video games. The attraction to video games should be however very strong as indicated by the nostalgia, with which they look forward to the arrival of the weekend. It is true that Video games can prevent children from reading as young scholars. However, children’s academic works should be at the peak in all the subjects. Once it develops into a habit, video games appear to children as the most entertainment platform. I played video games, they were not entirely disastrous, but without the application of necessary limit, they were going to be detrimental to the studies and the development of the personality. Still with video games, I developed various skills such as decision-making, communication skills, reading, writing, and problem solving skills. I never played all video games, the parents advised on the suitable types of video games to play. For example, they prohibited them from playing games involving shoot out or any simulations of violence, rebellion, and drugsCITATION Dia13 \p 87 \l 1033 (Gimpel 87). I remember one video game I played during the lower class, “The builder”, which involved arranging of blocks to construct a building. The video game inspired them towards becoming a construction manager. Parents ought to collect video games for the children to develop at least one of the skills. In fact, I should be the best example that teachers could refer others to. In our household, all the siblings were either reading or writing. I was inspired by their enthusiasm and none of them ever complained about being deprived of the opportunity to play video games. All of us were contented with the situation. For video games, all of us were to keep off for five days every week. Another aspect of the video games that the parents ought to be concerned about is the discussions about them. Parent should encourage more of academic discussion rather than video gaming. Talking about video games should be an indicator to them that children are getting addicted to them, or the games are beginning to captivate the mind. In the contrary, a significant section of the class is in the habit of discussing video games, even carrying their PlayStations to school to play in class. That manner of laziness reflects in their performance at the end of every study cycle. The difference in performance is wide, between game players and those who don’t. It is evident that my colleagues who played video games without limit never had any time to study on their own during free times. That is exactly what my parents controlled in me, the aspect of overplaying video games. Even with the appropriate selection of video games they did for me, they never advocated the idea of playing them at the expense of my studies. Today, I appreciate the control that my parents had on me together with my siblings. They encouraged us to read and reminded us that after school, we would have limitless time to play the games. Teachers were not approved of the practice of playing video games whether in school or at home. Obviously, at home, they had no control over the actions, but our parents effectively played that role. The first category of people who guide them to read and write by limiting playing of video games should be the parents. They are the best and the most influential people who contribute to the ability and academic power in reading. Naturally, I would have loved to play video games as much as the other classmates. I would have spent all the childhood life, playing video games just like the peers. Secondly, siblings to the children play essential roles of inspiration and modeling their characters. They should never rebel against the rules set in the house against playing Video Games at wrong times. Elders should always ensure that more reading takes place than playing video games among children. The teachers are also instrumental to the wellbeing as they ensure children activity in academics and extra-curricular activities. As children, many envision a future life of liberty, in which all they can do is to play games without restrictions. I too longed for the freedom to play video games.
