How to cope with Mother’s Day without your Children
Mother’s Day is a holiday for honoring motherhood and the impact of mothers in society. It was first celebrated by ancient Greeks and Romans to honor Rhea and Cybele, mother of goddesses. This year’s Mother’s Day will be held on Sunday, May 21, in the United States. It is celebrated in over 40 countries. On that day, as a mother, maybe your children are away from you, maybe you are dead, or even you are childless. It is essential to observe the following so as not to be stressed.
First, keep away from social media. That day ensure that you log off from Facebook, Instagram, or even Twitter or delete them. This move is for your self-care. During Mother’s Day, social media is full of pictures of people with their children and people feeling precious and lucky to have children. These posts will make you feel unfavorable and make you stressed.
Celebrate yourself as a mother. Remember that this is your day as a mother, and celebrate what you do as a mom. Hire a babysitter to take few hours with you, go out to get a pedicure, visit a bookstore to read. Find something good you love to do and do it.
Visit families in need and make meals for them, speak to them and encourage them. Donate to children’s homes and street children. Just make sure that day you are busy engaged doing something constructive. It is vital that on Mother’s Day, you do your very best to take care of yourself. Shower yourself with nurturance, compassion, and love.
Reasons for Divorce
Divorce is the process of dissolving a marriage union. It involves canceling marriage responsibilities under matrimonial rules of law of a state. Parties involved legal sign documents in having a single again and even allow them to marry again if interested. Divorcing partners negotiate terms of divorce: child custody, property division, child and spousal support, etc. Following are some of the reasons which lead to divorce.
One of the main contributions to divorce is the lack of commitment in marriage. This is the situation in which one spouse or even both of them take each other for granted. Being committed in a marriage or relationship is being in a state where you are thinking about yourself and both of you as partners in every step you are taking and making the most important decisions in your life (Eslami et al., 2018). Couples need to stay committed to each other. If there is no enough effort in marriage, the bond becomes weak, leading to its downfall. To be committed in marriage, couples need to remember vows they made to be committed to each other. Also, it is good to avoid fake promises in marriage to enhance faithfulness and bond in marriage.
Infidelity is another catalyst to divorce. This is the act of being unfaithful to your partner. When one cheats in marriage, her or his partner feels betrayed, leading to distrust in the relationship. Some people may forgive while others may not. The most common infidelities are opportunistic infidelity, obligatory infidelity, romantic infidelity, and commemorative infidelity. It is crucial to know the reason behind your partner's cheating and make the best decision to move on with your life.
