Introduction
Personality is the unique characteristic of thoughts, feelings and the way someone responds to various occurrences and situations in life. Personality influences interpersonal behaviors to a large extent. The relationship between the two offers an insight that can be used to direct individuals to a particular desired objective. Personality psychology tries to find solutions to the various queries, such as; why people differ in certain ways, up to which extent do these individuals differ and how consistent are the differences among different groups of people. Information about these differences is an important aspect in the determination of the extent to which personality affects behaviors. It will be an exploration of different models proposed for explanation of the impact character has on behavior. The theories seem contradictory; others in competition, while there are those that concur with each other.
Psychology of personality is one of the latecomers in the different fields related to psychology. Different individuals in various scenarios have been practicing personality psychology exhibited through their behaviors unknowingly. An individual seeks the right mate for himself, and the decision of that person will mainly depend on their compatibility. The similarity between the actions of the two individuals will mostly show their consistency. (Armitage & Christian, 2003). Behavioral influence of personality lies under a heading of what persons tend to believe to understand, and this apparently translates through their behaviors when they are encountered by the different situations that prompt their reaction. The text will try to show how most of us are incorrect while drawing conclusions that pertain others and the overconfidence of our abilities in doing so by looking at one period of a short time personality and making judgments about their behavior.
People tend to go through their lives by categorizing other individuals based on their behavior yet this has influenced to the greatest extent a person’s personality that makes them act in certain kind of manner toward others or a particular kind of situation in the workplace or group discussion. For example, in the business world, people tend to judge others depending on their demeanor generally, and they're presuming the ability to fit somewhere and their verbal style. A particular group of Researchers has not accepted the belief that they have a constant personality, some, in fact, reject the theory of personality ultimately they believe that personality changes according to a particular situation or the surrounding and as a ripple effect the behavior of an individual also changes.
How Personality Influences Behavior
Research on this area has a relative longer history, Aristotle, Plato, Machiavelli and Descartes with much more numerous types of studies in the field of psychology have looked into personality and behavior of human. Most of the works revealed powerful insights about character and had much more impact on how an individual deemed to perform under certain environmental conditions. The theorists of today have echoed theories of the past set of scholars massively.
In an attempt of explaining a natural phenomenon systematically, researchers have observed and conducted experiments on the subject (Bargh, 2002). A theory should be subject to verification and falsifiability. The significance of personality psychology becomes vital where there is a human predator in the society like a serial killer; researchers analyze character to give and predict the reason behind their behavior using nature. Examples that are known best for the analysis of this kind. Langer (1899-1981), a psychiatrist, assessed Adolf Hitler's mind in the United States in secret. It was published in 1970 famously indicating that Hill would die rather than surrender when he was forced to recognize that he lost the war. The psychiatrist was later recruited as a consultant of contemporary personality specialist and the law called him to develop profiles that would help to capture of serial murders by using their character that wants to kill people by predicting their behavior that is their next cause of action. An example is Duffy John a killer and a rapist terrorizing NW London in a period of four years (Bouchard Jr, 2004). Behavioral scientists, a professor was approached to develop the profile of a psychological character of Duffy and almost all he came up with matched what was found after he was captured.

Mostly the theories of the research on personality classifications are two; nomothetic and idiographic. The one that has been most used in the past millennium is idiographic. A personality ideography theorist stresses the distinctiveness of people's behaviors, indicating that two individuals can never be alike. This model looks at a particular person as his entity and does not compare them with any other. A book wrote by Theophrastus almost two millenniums ago showed it. He depicted a flatter individual who had his primary goal as the manipulation of others to lure them towards a particular direction and take advantage of them. Many people have experienced such kinds of personalities who want to play around with someone’s mind and at the end benefit from them.
Those who take nomothetic kind of approach stresses that the uniqueness will come into place as a compilation of behaviors that can be quantified. With this school of thought, every individual has particular traits that are common in all of them combined, and that we only differ in the character that we pose. (Gasper & Clore, 2002). The first nomothetic personality psychologist may have been Claudius Galen, a Greco-roman physician; he represented a different combination of four senses of humor or body fluids that regulated nature and the overall behavioral characteristics of an individual. The four senses of humor identified were phlegm, yellow bile, black bile, and blood. According to the relative predominance of each humor was supposed to produce respectively as sanguine that is pleasant and warm, phlegmatic; are apathetic, melancholic; sad and depressed, choleric; easily angered.
The Rational Emotive Behavioral Perspective
For close to more than half a century, this practice has been being in use for the prediction of human behavioral tendencies about their distinct personalities. Ellis, the clinician behind this theory, defined his finding in clinical terms. The view was developed through the compilation of a long working experience due to having an encounter with a huge number of different kinds of patients when he was a therapist for five centuries. He saw in his early years, an essential part of the personality of human beings is irrationality, which often leads to behavioral dysfunction. The tendency to prefer to the short-term satisfaction of desires was an example of inconsistency. The treating of irrational thinking became the analytical solution of changing someone’s perception and behavioral dysfunction in people.
Every reason is there to believe that there are no differences mostly between dispositions physiologically and activities of the nerves centers located lower than that determined the unconscious behavior, and that found at the centers higher than that is the cortex that determines both unconscious and conscious practices. They mainly occur within individuals brain and are mostly controlled by rearrangements of physiological and anatomy of the neurons; they are predominantly acquired experience not fully to perform their duties. They are seated at the brain and seen develop from the blueprint of the brain. The irrational behavior exhibited by human beings that rob individuals of their personality distorting their behavior, most of this kind of-of behavioral dysfunction are genetic in nature and poses an origin like most of the other genetic traits, they are made necessary due to the kind of environment one is. In the same manner, in which sickle cell traits are genetic, many tendencies are transferred genetically as traits.
Personality theories, such as the big five theory, focuses on the intrapersonal characteristics while FIRO theory offers an insight into interpersonal relations. There has been an implementation of both of these models mainly in organizational settings and are recognized as valid indicators of how and why people tend to behave as the do while in the context with different kind of groups. The big five model holds the way people think, feel and interact with others as attributed to individual differences in the five personality dimensions; agreeableness, consciousness’, neuroticism extraversion and openness to new experiences. According to this model, persons with agreeableness are likely to be warm understanding and cooperative and unlikely to be insincere, harsh rude or not sympathetic. Those in high consciousness tend to be hardworking, well organized, dependable and firm. People with high extraversion are assertive, sociable and gregarious. An individual with small neurotic is self-confident, patient and calm unlike people with high neurotics who are irritable and insecure.
