Background Information
Mr. Adler is a white man who is age 44years, not married and also he is single. The police had brought Mr. Adler to the emergency room for he had stroked an elderly woman in his apartment. During the time of the interview he seemed to be well-groomed and the speech he gave was coherent and goal-oriented.
Mr. Adler has been grappling with illness since his days in college at the age of 22 years. At that time he was a first-year law student. His main illness stems from his feeling and imagination that other people are always following his life. At the time he was schooling he developed a feeling that his colleague students were making fun of him, a feeling that made him withdraw from the public. At school, his academic performance declined and at a time he was advised to seek medical care and a psychiatrist. He left the school and was relieved from the feeling of being neglected and secured a job as a counselor in investment at a bank, which only lasted for 7 months. However, Mr. Adler has experienced a series of sicknesses, which at times led to being admitted to a hospital. The current situation with Mr. Adler is living in isolation and controlling all aspects of his life. He lives in his apartment and has newspapers and cameras in virtually all the rooms. He believes that everyone is monitoring his life.
