Volunteering at the Food Bank of the Rockies made me understand why it is vital to participate in worthwhile causes as it has immense benefits. Food Bank of the Rockies provides food and necessities to people in need as it is a nonprofit organization which has teamed up with many partners to serve the community of both Colorado and Wyoming. Volunteering for one of the biggest food banks in the United States allowed me not only to learn but appreciate humanity. I was given the mandate to mobilize edible food items from households and industries, as many were open to giving food to charity. Every day, the organization received a generous amount of edible food and other non-perishable items to give back to the community. The experience at the Food Bank of the Rockies made me realize that we all have the power to make a difference in our lives and be of service to humanity.
Food Bank of the Rockies has divided its volunteers into several groups. One is collecting fresh and perishable items like vegetables, pastries, and dairy products. This group is responsible for collecting and organizing food items and placing them inside groups and family carts. Another group is responsible for ensuring each family receives a well-balanced food supply. They push the items and deliver them depending on the food categories. Another group is responsible for mobilizing the food from households and industries. This group is mainly responsible for ensuring the organization's social network is robust and well promoted. A nonprofit organization is not complete without counseling and social services. All these groups work together and at a fast pace to ensure all the operations at the food bank run smoothly.
