Triarchic Theory of Intelligence (Essay Sample)

Instructions:

Intelligence is one of the most popular subjects in psychology. The definition and classification of intelligence are generally complicated but the bottom line is that it encompasses mental abilities such as logic, reasoning, problem-solving, and planning. One key theory that I believe has covered the intelligence aspect is the Triarchic Theory of Intelligence which has covered most of the basic applications of the concept. The theory holds that three types of intelligence exist which are practical, analytical, and creative. The theory describes the applicable situations where intelligence use is essential. In most cases, the theory is applicable because intelligence allows humans to figure out their weaknesses and adapt to the appropriate approach to handling various issues that arise in daily lives (Cokely et al., 2018).I believe the theory is most appropriate for describing intelligence because of the capability to find solutions in difficult times or when facing challenging issues. Additionally, the theory has three branches that simply show the overall application of intelligence in different settings. The three cover the major issues that require the use of intelligence. Practical intelligence involves common sense which is applicable in daily lives. The analytical is about academic tasks that form most of the human lives. Education is a basic need that is understandable due to the application of analytical intelligence. The last is creative which is about finding the solutions for every issue which occurs. Triarchic theory of intelligence allows one to have the strength of identifying the weakness and find ways of adjusting to the situation. It shows how one can identify challenges and find answers that fit according to personal strengths and weaknesses. In essence, triarchic best explains the intelligence due to variations of the knowledge base covered.
