Religion and Its Monsters
In religious education, monsters have been in existence since creation. Human beings respond to monsters as a threat to both gods and God. Majorly monsters represented as an enemy of God and thus are evil right from other creation things and most are sent to Hell. Such monsters include the sea monsters (psalm 74 and Isaiah 27).
In addition, monsters portray an invasion of sacred chaos and disorientation within a society or the whole world. Such a case in seen in the Tiamat and the Babylonian Enuma Elish, such monsters are in the book of Job and proposed in the vampire film (Murnau’s film). In religion language monsters indicates the scenario against the violent chaos. Mostly an attack of our world is an equivalent to the revenge by the mythical dragons, which rebel against the work of gods. Monsters belong to the powers of chaos (Johnson, 2009). The evil powers for instance monsters cause demonic forces of chaos, which threat the sacred order of the universe. One of such instances is in the book of John in the New Testament. Here the fallen angels turned to be diabolic dragon that was a threat to the society (Beal, 2014).
In Deut 28:1-68 God warns those people who were not faithful to Him. He warned them to careful and has to obey all His commandments. If they do not obey Him, the blessings He has sent to them will take away from them. Furthermore in Exodus God threat to kill all the firstborns, from the firstborn of Pharaoh and even the maidservant behind the mails (Exodus 11:4-5). From this context, we see that anyone who wants to kill the innocent souls with an intelligent and loving Creator does it only from great ignorance only from the addiction of blind faith. Also from (Exodus 12:29-30) God kills the firstborn of Egyptian soil including the firstborn of Pharaoh upon his throne. During that night Pharaoh rose up and all his servants were all at cry. Furthermore, there was no house in Egypt without one person dead.
Lastly, Moses conducted a mass murder. The mass murder caused the children of Israel through the counsel of Balaam; thereafter they were plagues among the congregation of the Lord. The Lord ordered Moses to kill every male among the little children and to kill women known by lying to her husband but to spare women with children that have not known their men lying to them.
Both the threats of monster and deities are great and powerful mystery in the whole world but terrifies humanity. Also monsters haunt stories related to religion especially the Judeo-Christian and ancient traditions.
