In most societies, marriages are the most important sources of support for a person. However, such institutions can be dissolved because of different reasons. The causes of divorce include; unfaithfulness, abuse, lack of communication, and poverty. Several studies have shown that most children who are raised by divorced parents have high chances of getting divorced. Divorce in families has always been attributed to nurture. However, it is essential to determine the role nature plays in divorce. Although it’s commonly argued that divorce is as a result of learned behaviors and the environment, genes play an essential role in divorce.
There are two factors that determine the behavior of a person, nurture and nature. Nurture involves the way a person is brought up, the surrounding environment, the experiences and the culture (Nelson, 2013). There is evidence that the environment that a person grows up partly contributes to the behavior of the person. For instance, when a child is born, the child tends to imitate the behavior of the parents. The child speaks the language spoken by the parents. The culture to which the child is introduced to shapes the character and the personality of the person. However, it is also evident that genes play a role in shaping the attitudes of a person.
