Various sources indicate that divorce cases have become rampant in the recent past, and the situation seems to be getting worse.
This essay seeks to determine the leading causes of divorce. After conducting research, I established that the most common legally acceptable reasons for divorce are adultery, mental incapacity, desertion, bigamy, impotence, psychological or physical abuse, mental illness, drug or alcohol addiction, and criminal conviction.

The Causes of Divorce
Divorce has been defined as the formal dissolution of a legally recognized marriage by a court of law or any other recognized body. The divorce process usually results in the termination of a marital union for any given number of legally acceptable reasons. The reasons may vary from one country to another or from one legal jurisdiction to another. Religious affiliation also plays a significant role in the instances of divorce, grounds for divorce, and how it is implemented. The most common legally acceptable reasons for divorce are adultery, mental incapacity, desertion, bigamy, impotence, psychological or physical abuse, drug or alcohol addiction, and criminal conviction.
Adultery is the sexual involvement of a married person with a person who is not their legally recognized spouse. Adultery may or may not involve the cohabitation of such parties in their sexual involvement. Still, the bottom line is that sexual relations were initiated and seen through outside the confines of a legally binding marriage (Siennick et al., 2014). Adultery has the element of violating
