Breaking Gambling Habit
In Scientific or medical terms gambling can be referred to as ludomania, in simple terms it implies that a person thinks he needs to gamble despite knowing the consequences associated with gambling. Gambling addition can affect ones psychologically, physically, financially, and can have adverts effect on their health. In most instances it can be referred to as a hidden illness as one cannot have any physical evidence of its existence. According to research carried out by (Welte, Barnes, Tidwell & Hoffman, 2008) additive gambling can be associated with mental disorder and most of those who are actively addicted have no control of the problem or how to over come it. Welte further argued that (Welte, Barnes, Tidwell & Hoffman, 2008), an individual gets more and more addicted every time one gambles or when one gets an opportunity to gamble. From research carried out by American Psychological Association more than 4 percent of the American population is faced with a gambling addition Petry (2005). Gambling should be discouraged at all cost anyone who gambles is like someone who tries to cross a speeding highway blindfolded, high chances are that they wouldn’t make it thru and a small chance is that they will make it.
