The hot debate around the issue of illegal immigrants acquiring driver’s licenses is stirring up dissatisfaction from various quarters. Despite the ongoing discussion, more states in the US are already issuing such people with the licenses, yet they are undocumented. The common tradition has always been that proof of legal presence in the US soil is a crucial prerequisite to attaining a driver's license in most states. However, the recent trend of issuing illegal immigrants with a driver's license is seen by most people as beneficial to the country.
Investigations indicate that a majority of hit-and-run accidents in the country are a result of denying illegal immigrants driver’s license. Most of these drivers are usually quick to disappear from accident scenes because of the chances of being arrested and charged for poor driving as well as being deported (Perry, 2019).
