Sports have a great impact when it comes to keeping teens out of trouble both now and in the future. In the light of the fact that most teens are usually undergoing a great transformational stage of their life, there is a significant influence on a greater part of their adulthood (Jarvis & Blank, 2011). The essay seeks to explain the importance of teenage participation in sports.
Sports to a large extent influence the health status of the teens. At this stage, there have been usually a lot of changes in the body of the tank. Engaging in sports activity is essential in preventing future cases of unhealthy conditions brought about mostly by unhealthy lifestyles (Jarvis & Blank, 2011). With the current state of increasing rates of development of non-communicable diseases, the conception of sport is an essential tool in the teens to control the unhealthy situation later in life.
Sports have also proven to be a good avenue for the teens to bond with their age mates and learn teamwork skills. Blitzer (2013) notes that "no man is an island on his own." Context, sports help the teens grow into outgoing individuals that can socialize with their varied colleagues. Besides, through sports, the teamwork skills developed are translated into the later lives (Szczechowicz, 2012). In essence, this makes the teens all-rounded people who become effective leaders in their lives and careers.
Further, sports develop skills that are essential for effective existence. To some, the skills developed are pertinent in their future lives as they give them privileges, including helping them in earning a living. On the same note, the teens get to know their abilities and strengths quite on time (Halldorsson, Thorlindsson & Sigfusdottir, 2014). Hence, sports are very crucial in career development.
