Modernity refers to the change in the way of living brought about by new era and generation. Modernity changes our social, cultural, political and economic aspects of the society. Modernity has positive impact on the society however; its negative impacts are numerous too. In thiscase, modernity has negatively affected chastity as a societal moral norm.
Chastity is the stateof sexual abstinence before marriage. It is the state of been pure which is morally accepted in the community cultural morals and values. In the traditional community set-ups, chastity was of great importance and sexual relationships before marriage werepunishable. Been pure was a value closely guarded in the community.
