Many people are currently utilizing internet-supported online platforms to enhance their businesses and social interactions. However, they are consequently exposed to cyber-attacks as a result of their interactions with malicious persons on the online platforms. Not only are individuals exposed to the cyberattacks but national agencies and corporations are susceptible to the information security concerns. The paper describes the information security concerns in protecting the US national infrastructure. Furthermore, it describes the reason for the author of the article titled Using Information Security to Protect Critical National Infrastructure: Energy Sector is Hackers’ Biggest Target’s statement that the oil and gas industries are prime targets for cyber criminals more than infrastructures (Infosecurity Magazine Home, 2009). Moreover, the paper will explain the need for the regulation of the SCADA and industrial control systems why there is concern that this is not being dealt with appropriately.
