The Internet or Drinking Age
The internet! Since its invention in the early 1980’s the internet has served millions of people around the world. It has been so good that the world is now known as a global village. Interaction between people thousands of miles apart has become like that of next door neighbours. Sharing of documents and passing of information is fast and efficient. Companies have grown through it and people are even getting their degrees and Masters Certificates online (Phillips and Swiler 71). With all this fairy tale like wonders of the internet the question still remains, is the internet as good as it sounds?
Which one is more dangerous? The increased use of the internet by the youth and humans in general or the reduction in overall drinking age. The truth is that there is no way of completely monitoring viewing of such material. If a child were to come across this material it is almost definite that they will be scared for life (Mesch 58). So, the question still lingers, pornography or drinking age?
There has been a rise of cults and immoral religious sites on the internet. Teenagers while still on their exploration mode look for foundations to lead their lives with (Mesch 62). A teenager’s best source of advice is the search engine on the internet. Again, what is to stop a child from joining such sites and getting corrupted psychologically. This wrong moulding will be the foundation of their life ahead. Again, drinking age or the internet?
Humans are wired to be social beings. Interaction between human beings is meant to be face to face with all the senses participating in the interaction (Mesch 66). Social networking ha...
