In healthcare, maintaining collaborative relationships among colleagues is important in ensuring better healthcare. As a best practice, strengthening collaborative practices, especially among nurses can in the long run ensure patient and customer satisfaction. To determine the effect of positive intra-professional collaboration, focus is given to various types of nurses including registered nurses, registered practical nurses and nurse practitioners. Communication among professionals in the same level can be seen to improve the way they offer service to client and patient alike. A horizontal form of communication is achieved at intra-professional collaborations making it important for communication in health care.
Working with Experienced Nurses
Collaborations at this level are important, especially for younger practitioners who are out to gain experience. Nurse practitioners get to work with more experienced members of the fraternity including registered nurses and registered practical nurses who have worked longer in the health sector. Through association and hands on experience, the nurses can watch and learn. In most health centers, such nurses on practice report to a nurse manager who is better placed to help them gain enough experience. Such close management enables better management and feedback in cases the practitioner does not offer services as requires, especially where work ethics dictate the staff or hospital work culture.
