The Department’s mission is to form sustainable, strong, quality and inclusive homes for all Americans. The Department of Housing and Urban Development has the responsibility of running programs that are related to housing demands, fair housing chances for Americans and developing the country’s communities (Lister, 2017). The department runs a wide variety of programs such as rental help programs for families unable to afford decent houses, housing insurance mortgage programs, mortgage-backed securities programs to aid insufficient supply of mortgage credits, services to reduce any form of housing discrimination, programs for sustaining the community and neighborhood and lastly, services to assist in protecting house buyers from unscrupulous house owners (Lister, 2017). In the recent years, the Department of Housing and Urban Development has taken some strides to encourage private sector housing so that they can help in developing houses at fair prices. In a bid to promote the private sector in providing affordable homes, the department has initiated public/private partnerships and public/private sector entrepreneurship (Lister, 2017).
