The population is considered to be the source of strength in terms of economic, military and political strength. However, this may not always turn to be correct in the case of overpopulation. Rapid population growth in developing countries over the past few decades has raised fear about the effective population crisis. Overpopulation has been associated with a lot of disadvantages. Amongst them are growing in population people in a given location tries to look for more space for agriculture and settlement. This results in the depletion of natural habitat to the extent of destroying the water catchment area. Overpopulation is constantly associated with high rates of crime. Due to high unemployment, unemployed members of the overpopulated society turn to criminal activities to meet their basic needs.
The fear of the projected population explosion and demerit of overpopulation some government employ different policies to deal with overpopulation issues. Some of the commonly used methods of lowering population are the use of contraception, one-child policies, infant Mortality Decrease among others. In this paper, we are going to consider a new method of population lowering referred to as child tax.
