Operational Enduring Freedom is the military code name that the United States and its allies use to refer to the military operation to counter terrorism globally. Operation Enduring Freedom –Afghanistan was launched on 7 October 2001, and it was in response to the 11 September 2001 terrorist attack in America (Lyle, 2009). The battle was aimed at eliminating al- Qaeda, and the Taliban was removed in the process. However, the battle continued as American, and British soldiers hunted down the stubborn Taliban loyalists. Operation Enduring Freedom ended on 28 December 2014 but the soldiers remained in the country to help maintain security, and help Afghan security forces. Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan was not a single battle but was inform of many series of battles that took place in different areas to eliminate the enemy. One of the major battles was Operation Anaconda, which took place in March 2002.
