Street gangs worldwide are known for their characters that tend to offend the larger urban society. There are various characteristics that symbolize a group of gangs in the street. First, the gang usually composes of underage gangs that are controlled by older and experienced gangs. Also, the street gangs usually begin with light gang tasks such as conning people on the streets. Almost in every developing town or city, there are some streets that are known best for the acts of conmen and women. Walking on those streets would lead to people getting robbed of their precious belongings such as jewelry and money. As the time goes on, the juvenile gang begins to get some experience that and adjourns to more fierce tasks such as robbery with violence. It is at this point that the government machinery that begins to take action on the organized criminals.
The Purple Gang was an organized criminal group that existed in the 20th century. Their operations began with minor activities that were mostly associated with minor street crimes. As the gang grew older, they began to venture into more serious crimes that included armed robbery, extortion, hijacking, kidnapping, and murder (McDonald, 2014). The gang gained a lot of negative reputation and was the disaster to Canadians, the country where the gang’s operations were held. It was at this stage when the government police started to hunt the criminal group that was predominantly made of the citizens with the Jewish background. By 1935, the Purple Gang had vanished as its members were held in prison custody where they were judged for various criminal activities.

Sometimes the breakdown of the connectivity between generations cannot be recognized by the institutions that are meant to keep law and order. This was the case that led to the development of the Purple Gang in Canada. The gang began with the juveniles meaning that the young ones of the Jewish community were not given a close look by their seniors.
