Same Sex on Future Generations
Same sex marriage is bound to have negative consequences on the normal advancement of society. According to an article by Joan Desmond, same sex unions will change the definition of marriage but they have not given much thought to its effect on the younger generations. In fact, the issue of fidelity is bound to get thrown out of marriage because gay unions display a very high level of sexual permissiveness (Desmond). Consequently, even in the man-woman marriages this breakdown in fidelity is bound to become more prevalent. Another reason why same sex marriage should not be legalized is because of the biological relationships between children and actual parents (Family Research Council). Same sex marriage is going to bring a huge social problem as children realize they are the product of sperm banks or in-vitro fertilization. Consequently, allowing sex marriage will only be hurting future generations by giving way for new social and psychological issues.
On the issue of fidelity, most proponents of same sex marriage indicate that same sex marriage is not a threat to the institute of marriage (Mathews). In fact, it is an issue of preference and no one is obligated to act in particular manner. As a result, when it comes to fidelity, it too is a matter of preference which respective husbands and wives have an obligation to choose the course to follow. Gay marriage should not be the scapegoat of already existing social issues. In-vitro fertilization is currently an option for many same sex marriages who cannot conceive a child on their own. On the same basis, homosexual couples should be allowed to get children scientifically or through adoption (Bowman). Furthermore, the world is not a perfect place and social and psychological disorders can be attributed to many different factors apart from same sex marriage.
