Similarly, Gattaca discriminated individuals based on their genetic makeup whereby individuals with desirable characteristics were categorized as invalid and those with undesirable characteristics as invalids. Vincent was an example of invalid because he was born in natural way but his brother was valid because he was genetically selected for the best traits. The historical context of this movie describes a hero; Vincent who challenged the existing system of discrimination. He refused his fate and used some illegal means to achieve his dream and got a job as a programmer (Kirby, 2004). The future depicted in Gattaca is realistic because the narrative in the film shows that the discrimination that are faced at workplaces and in society but with development of technology, this challenge can be eliminated.
