A plethora of interstate conflicts have had their way in the Gulf region, which constitutes such countries as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bahrain, Oman and among others, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, the most remarkable conflict pitting the Gulf region, for whose members constitute the Middle East and North African region is the recalcitrant and tense relations between Israel (a Jewish state) and especially non-members of the Gulf Cooperation Countries such as Egypt, Syria and among others, Lebanon as well as the Palestinian Liberation Organization (Authority) under the auspices of leader of the contested Palestinian authorities- Yasser Arafat and most recently Abu Mazen.
