Women have the political and voting right just as their counter parts; the male generation. However, prior to enactment legislations in the USA and elsewhere, the women were never allowed to participate in the formation of governments and were denied voting rights. It is upon some enactment of some legislation that the women were allowed to participate in government formation as well as the acquisition of the voting rights (McGuire, 2010). Our societies have since moved from the era when the women were not recognized to the time when the women have been appreciated. The contribution of the women in governments and even in civil societies has since been felt. It can never be said that the rights of women and their general duties and capabilities have been utilized fully (McGuire, 2010). There are certain societies where still the role of the women is diminished and therefore, there is necessity that some actions be undertaken to empower the women and the society in general.
