Cmap application is one of the best tools ever developed to capture experts’ knowledge. The tool is easy to use and gives options for all interaction by different users. A variety of users are able to apply the tool on Android gadgets, iPhones or logging into the cloud portal on the web. Using Cmap is easy, and does not require any, in class training, since most of the tool features involve drag drop of objects. It is also easy for one to customize the window to suit a specific need (Bloice & Burnett, 2016, p.146).
Cloud web platform is integrated with iPhone and Android Apps, making it easy to use either Phone application or cloud web portal. Since Cmap is hosted on the cloud, it is cheap and can be used by any organization to keep their expert knowledge and only pay a small fee for the private cloud space. The problems associated with downtimes are also minimal since technical teams of Cmap are always maintaining the platform.
Organizational and technological factors are the key barriers to knowledge sharing in my company. Organizational barriers are experienced through lack of employee participation in knowledge sharing, an unwillingness of management to support knowledge management (KM), and low employee contribution in the development of knowledge management centers because of fear of being redundant. Technological barriers experienced include less training on the use of KM, Information overload, fear of understanding and embracing technology (Nitchot et al., 2017, p.194).
To reduce the Knowledge management and knowledge sharing barriers, I will ensure that every employee is sensitized on the importance of KM, and its benefits to the company. Employees will also be given hands-on training regarding social media.
