Introduction
In a modern business company, information is a very important element to consider. Without information, it is almost impossible to survive in a highly competitive and fast changing business environment. This relates to consumer behavior and preferences, actions by competitors, government regulations and technological advancement. The quality of such information in terms of relevance, timeliness, reliability and quantity is very critical for it to be of any use. Similarly, communication is vital if such information is to be utilized for the overall good of the organization (Shapiro and Hal, 2013). In such a case, communication networks that are functioning smoothly are used to facilitate operations, both internally and externally.
Network and Hardware Section for Elite Ltd
In a bid to catch up with increasing demand and the threat of competition, the company is keen on establishing a strong foundation in its network and hardware systems. The primary goal is aligning operations with the communication needs of both the company and the market (Haykin, Simon, & Neural Network, 2004)). This also includes maintaining the pace in the industry. A full automation of operations within the company would be critical. Each section and department would have its own computer hardware and network, with a target of interconnecting various computers to each other and data base. A departmental database would be critical for quick access of needed information, as well as communication. A central database would be established too in order to have organizational information accessible to all. All computers in the company would be connected to this central database.
Convenience when looking for information is an ultimate objective for the company. Sorting of the databases would therefore be done in order to make access and browsing easy and fast (Katz & Carl, 2009). The ICT department would be fully responsible for research and providing information on industry trends, as well as creating a forum where customer feedback would be channeled through. Internet connection would therefore be provided. Also, security of the databases as well as computer systems would be a top priority.
The nature of Elite Ltd.’s operations would not allow for any breakdown. It would simply be disastrous. As such, the company plans to invest big in reliable and high performance machines and hardware. This would affect the company’s resources, but is considered a long term investment that would yield results. In case of a breakdown in either network or hardware, a backup plan is in place where outsourcing some operations has been identified as an option.
