Evaluation Tool and Method Name of Student Institution Affiliation Introduction Evaluation tools determine the merits of an individual, group, program, or organization's performance of their duties or responsibilities to others or the public. There are many types of evaluation tools that can be used during an evaluation process, and they range from multichoice, checklists, and rating scales up to rubrics and matrices (Brazier et al., 2017). The purpose of an evaluation is to help others make informed decisions about something. It typically occurs at the end of learning, courses, or programs and can be either formative or summative. It is important to identify what type of evaluation you are using to match the needs and goals of the person(s) who will use it. Formative evaluations tend to focus on improving processes, whereas summative evaluations typically focus on measuring outputs (Billings & Halstead, 2019). The paper will serve as the Course Level Assessments for the nursing program. PART 1 The first step to creating an evaluation is identifying the purposes of the evaluation (McKenzie et al., 2022). It also provides data that may be used to make improvements. In addition, identifying strengths and weaknesses within the nursing program provides insight into where improvements could happen next. Using the evaluation method allows all stakeholders (students, faculty members, administrators) to give input on how they think things should go forward (Miech et al., 2018). There are many ways that this type of feedback can be collected- through surveys given out throughout the semester/program or anonymous evaluations collected at course completion, which are then averaged together. When evaluating the effectiveness of a nursing program, students should consider what changes were made to their understanding or skill sets from when they started the program until when they finished. Two general purposes are often considered. The most common type of evaluation is called a formative analysis. Formative evaluations are typically used to measure change over time or progress to identify where intervention might be needed and what types might be most effective. An example would be if we wanted to know how many students read the textbook after it was assigned in class. On the other hand, a summative evaluation is done more generally when there has been some significant event (McKenzie et al., 2022). An example could be if our nursing school had just undergone major changes like new curriculum requirements or a new facility, we may want to take one last look at how successful those changes were with our students before moving forward with anything else major. The learning outcome for the nursing students is to assess their understanding of the nursing program's goals, techniques, and skills learned while the student is enrolled. Providing feedback like this assists both students and educators in knowing if there are any needed adjustments or revisions that need to be made in order to improve future experiences for learners who enroll in our nursing program. The Learning domain being evaluated is self-efficacy, knowledge acquisition, and affective engagement. Application of the Evaluation Tool can come in many different forms, including whether or not nurses have increased confidence in providing care to patients with dementia after participating in a training session or providing progress reports back to faculty and administration on how effective their teaching strategies are ( Pa...
