ONLINE GAMES
With almost 7 out of every 10, the current tech-savvy generation owning at least a gadget, the online games have found a lot of relevance in their lives. As a matter of fact, the resurgence of better versions of online games has resulted in immense benefits such as readily available entertainment, socialization, and brain as well as psychological development. It is, however, essential to note that online gaming it has also brought with it a lot of side effects that have left the users in jeopardy. Some of these side effects include the rise in moral erosion, radicalization, and lifestyle disease. This paper, therefore, seeks to give an in-depth understanding of the positive and negative effects of that have been brought by online games.
Research has proved that continuous and consistent exposure to online games leads to improved brain development as it improves psychomotor, cognitive, and effective functioning.". Scientifically it has proved that intense exposures to interactive computer games have an amazing psychological and mental effect, especially on the elderly. Equally online games entail a lot of thinking, thus creating an ambient environment where the brain has to think pretty much to keep up with the pace of the game (Karsenti, 2019). Overtime as the users gains interest and brainstorm in how to succeed in the game, the replica effect of this is the immense, development of the brain. This eventually translates to the personal development of the individuals as they are able to examine themselves critically and set their personal goals (Griffiths, 2002, p. 47). So to say research recent research indicated that most children who are more often than not exposed to a lot of video games tend to develop a comprehensive knowledge of their bits of intelligence. This is due to the fact that online games are programmed in a manner that they are able to give them feedback by rewarding them for exemplary performance. The games as well encourage them to make more attempts when they perform and does not criticize them in any way ("positive effects of gaming on the brain," 2019).
