Cyber criminals use bugs or flaws in software to attack a system. Under what conditions, companies or individual developers should be held responsible for these flaws?
Software developers should be held responsible for software flaws if there is such a clause in the End-User License Agreements that gives the clients the rights to sue the developers for any flaws. If an investigation proves negligence of responsibility by the developer that jeopardizes the user’s computer, then the lawsuit is likely to be valid. Making the developer responsible for security bugs would help protect the buyer from potential software breaches that exploit the vulnerabilities while protecting the vendor or developer from charging the buyers extra to fix the bugs.

Vendors should be subject to criminal actions in case an audit on their software proves that any losses on the side of the buyer due to attacks targeting flaws are due to ignorance of the developers.
