Secure SDLC (Software development life cycle) is an integral part in protecting digital assets for all organizations that implement technology in the day-to-day operations. Information security standards may vary depending to the type of business or activities involved within an organization in relation to its technological implementations. This paper intends to demonstrate a comprehensive strategy for initiating an IT development project while managing risk for all the assets in the organization. The information system is for a Global Retail Company, ACE TOOLS INC, that sells products worldwide over the internet. The company home office resides in Austin Texas. An organization that mitigates risk and provides guidelines for using software to the workers benefits by having improved security frameworks that makes daily operation effective. The development of a secure SDLC for a retail company begins with the collection of detailed information on the number and type users expected to use the proposed system as well as map out the company’s available property. All the gathered information assists in the making of model system and the assignment of roles pertaining to who and how data will be handled by the end users. The security steps that are integrated into the development process uses the waterfall SDLC method to establish actions that can be taken in the everyday business activities.

In today’s competitive market, the retail industries have to adapt to the ever-increasing market demand for flexibility in terms of achieving customers’ expectations. The sequential model of developing a technology project system for the global retail company because it makes it easier to deliver the final system after establishing and implementing security measures on each phase. Retail industry networks just like most businesses that deal sensitive client information also require conventional security standards to ensure immediate risk is prevented and all vital company information is appropriately protected. It is highly advisable to implement information security in the early design stages of a technological project since it is a cost-effective method of ensuring risk management.
