An embodiment of Female Characters in the Arab Film
Abstract
Arab film and media have contributed to making and unmaking the image of female characters by retarding women's progress in society. Not denying that media has a powerful effect on individuals without knowing is adopting and internalizing attitudes, values, and beliefs presented in graphics and textual. Most female characters are unaware of the embodiment manipulation by glamorous looks and tittles conveyed through films. Here, embodiment refers to the portrayal or representation of the female characters. Arab film advertisement uses female characters to sell and advertise some of the products. Perhaps most people are buying into the idea without fully realizing the beliefs governing their lives. Therefore, this research paper is exploring the representation of female characters in the Arab film “La Source des Femmes.”[Banasiak, Krista Nicole. "Make Your Belly Dance": An Exploration of Feminism, Orientalism, and Embodiment in the Lived Experience of Belly Dance." (2018).]
