Fredrick Jameson is the author of the book: Postmodernism or The Cultural Logic Of Late Capitalism (1991) which is a very interesting book on Architecture. The Author agrees with the fact that Post modernization of architecture has significantly affected today’s society and culture. He claims that postmodernism began being criticized and analyzed due to the transformation of buildings into monuments as he is backed up by Robert venture who refers to modern day buildings as toys. This is because modern day Architects have decided to go astray from the old rule books of architecture.[McLeod, Mary. 1989. To prove his theory, He argues that due to change of commercial, culture today's, papers, advertisements are to blame for this mayhem. The author continues to state that postmodern in behavior in the society brought about by the elements above is the force behind this current trend. This is true since modernization of Architectural language has destroyed the old neighborhood culture and traditional city lifestyle.
The author explains the example of the Bonaventure Hotel that was developed by John Portman in order to prove his point. He claims that the placement of reflective glass, the use of lifts opposed to taking a stroll and hanging streams have significantly diminished the old architecture language. We see that the audience the author intended for was a well-educated people with relevant knowledge in Architectural history and culture.
Mary Mcleod, the author of Architecture and Politics in the Reagent Error, February 1989 amazingly, agrees with postmodernism in Architecture that claims that historic buildings have a positive social impact. The uses the following factors as examples: Historical styles, regionalism, decoration, urban contextualization and morphologies. She claims that they were redefined by modern day architecture in a positive way.
In order to prove her theory, she claims that Architecture and politics have two binding ties that are namely economy and culture. Modern architecture has brought a positive social impact on areas such as Decoration, the regionalism that lacked roots due to postmodernism and urban contextualization that eradicated the same old boring buildings.
