Answer at least three of the following questions:
1. What are the central tenets and critiques of internal colonialism, black pessimism, and black
and Latino Marxism? (Gutierrez, Sexton, Dawson)
2. What is the long 16th Century and what are the central differences between Spanish and
Anglo-American settler colonial projects according to Gerald Horne. (Long 16h century, Religion,
Race)
3. How did the Spanish colonization of California Native lands give rise to the first forms of
incarceration in California according to the book City of Inmates? (Catholicism, Mission System,
enclosure of Native lands)
4. What is primitive accumulation and how did this process lead to the development of Anglo-
American colonization of the Southwest and the development of American capitalism,
imperialism, and eugenics as a leading ideology in the long 19th Century? (Phases of capitalist
development, Mexicans, California Genocide, Chinese Exclusion, Eugenics, Poor Whites)
Everything mentioned in 1 - 4 is all I am asking for! Chinese Exclusion in America, Afro
pessimism; etc are fair game.

Introduction
Black people specifically have suffered violence patterns in several histories. Their suffering can never be compared to what other communities have gone through. Racism and discrimination against black people have been witnessed in most places. Especially in systems of justice and prisons, black people have always been judged as drug dealers and thieves. These patterns have been witnessed for several years now. However, there is another set of racism that has been experienced by anti-black people. These people are said to be discriminated against for their skin color and accent yet they are not blacks. Domination in ethics has thus been a top priority to most people since both the black and anti-black are experiencing some discrimination and racism.
Question 1
This racism has been given a stronger voice by the anti-blackness concept. These people always feel powerful in presence of black people. Since this is a mindset game, the black thus remain to be oppressed in presence of the whites. Political discrimination has been given voice by the new politics. These politics have arisen from increased disconnection from the beginning of history to colonial periods. As the black people continue to resist some rejection, there have been no efforts to define what is meant by anti- blackness. This is because racial discrimination has just been strengthened by some misconceptions and myths about some facts. The resistance by black people has thus led to development s in Afro-pessimism.
Sexton made it clear that large developments in Afro-pessimism were made possible through social media platforms. It is for this reason that the black lives matter hashtag was able to spread all over the world. Social media has strengthened the voice of many people who are willing to resist discrimination and racism. Afro-pessimism has thus been considered as the main literature since it has been shaped by active systems in black British and Afro American (Gerald 2020,15). For one to participate in Afro-pessimism, they should have objectives of achieving a certain target while moving. Sexton has described one of these movements as a “movement of thought” (Sexton 2013,10). This is because Afro-pessimism has concentrated on struggles in politics, cultural-wise, and in societies as well. Afro-pessimism has thus been considered as the best literature in American history.
Afro-pessimism also interprets that civil society should be impendent on the violence presented to anti-black. A society that discriminates against black people cannot be classified under Marxist Subaltern disciplines. Structural violence has led to the multiplication of other violence like domestic violence that is experienced by most women. This violence has also been witnessed in most workplaces where women cannot earn more than their male counterparts. Pessimists thus argue that black is a thought mostly associated with slavery. It is through Afro-pessimism that humanity has become legible. In this theory, blackness is seen as a normal form of humanity. Dawson argues that blackness should not only be associated with violence but also a victory. Black people should thus be essential in their personal lives as well as in institutions. Dawson also argues that Asians, Americans, and Arabs need to get away with anti-blackness (Dawson 2017, 441). This is because the anti-blackness has made them have a certain view of black people. For discrimination and racism to end amongst black people, the anti-blacks have a major role to play.
