The books Black Jacobin and Tell My Horse have covered a significant range of various arguments about the voodoo usually used to explain the similarities and differences between the voodoo. Voodoo is used in both books to mean spirits and has been a great inspiration for major slave’s revolts against slavery. They are similar in that they documented the voodoo beliefs and rituals that were practiced in western countries particularly Haiti. In both books, Christianity has been used by the Americans to persecute Africans. Both books are invaluable and outstanding sources that provide an in-depth of understanding of voodoo rites, practices, and ceremonies. The topics about voodoo are much interesting. They are not only entertaining but also one can learn a few things from them. The current misunderstanding of voodoo in Haiti can be best understood in historical perspective. The works in the two books are more than voodoo works. The people came from different cultural backgrounds, but they shared many religious beliefs and traditions. Because of the distance between god and human beings, they all revered a god or gods.[James, Cyril Lionel Robert. The Black Jacobins: Toussaint L'Ouverture and the San Domingo Revolution.
