During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Europeans began occupying African and Asian countries as a way of increasing their territorial influence. The countries involved, such as Britain however, used different methods of occupation. The British Empire was known as the most advanced since their economic, social and cultural values were topnotch. The tea industry, for instance, was the point of focus for the British Empire as they tried to find a way of taking control of the world. They understood that in order to have control, they needed one commodity which everyone else wanted. With that, they would be able to regulate the prices and supply and therefore end up controlling the people. In addition, sugar was symbolic in the European quest for both Asia and Africa. For a long time, this commodity was associated with the rich in the society. The lower poor classes did not have access to it and the Europeans saw an opportunity. In this instance, therefore, the Europeans used sugar to have control over their territories. However, there were other modes of control and conquest that they used to implement their imperialistic action in Asia and Africa.
