US Soldiers Experience in Iraq
The Iraq war was a weapon conflict that went through two phases. The first phase had the United States army and United Kingdom soldiers enter Iraq. After the intrusion of these two units into Iraq, the war started and lasted for many years. Initially, Iraq had confessed that they possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Notably, this is what catapulted the war since the USA and UK governments argued that the weapons were a threat to the world’s security. Regarding that, the American and United Kingdom governments deployed their troops into Iraq with the aim of destroying the Weapons of Mass Destruction. The deployment of troops into Iraq had adverse effects to both the citizens of Iraq and the American soldiers. Notably, thousands of Iraq citizens died during the war and American soldier’s fatalities were registered.
This essay discuses the general experience of the American soldiers in Iraq.
The Iraq War
The Iraq war broke out on March 20 2003 after the United States government deployed its troops into the Iraqi territory without declaring war. Notably, Iraq alleged to be in possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction. According to the US government, these weapons were a security threat to their regional and other business partners, so they intended to get rid of the dangerous weapons. Initially, on March 16 the same year, US advised the United Kingdom to withdraw their unfinished business and leave Iraq. Subsequently, they invaded Iraq just four days after they had warned. America’s main aim was to get rid of the weapons so that they could be sure about safety of their regional partners. Additionally, the US government blamed Saddam Hussein for supporting the Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda was a terror group led by Osama Bin Laden
whose main aim was to finish America. The Al Qaeda had terrorized the US and several USA embassies in various countries. These were among the reasons why the Americans were against the possession of weapons of mass destruction by Iraq.
Moreover, they wanted to capture Iraq’s president Saddam Hussein so that he could answer cases regarding human rights violations. Arguably, some people said the US invasion into Iraq was because of the Iraq financial support for the families of the Palestinian bombers. The Palestinian bombers had affected America immensely, and they were after them. The war between the American troops and Iraq went on for a long time. There were thousands of fatalities reported since the American soldiers were attacking everyone in Iraq. According to the Iraq citizens, the American soldiers were to face charges for they had killed the innocent including children and the aged. However, there were also American soldiers fatalities reported during the war. The American soldiers who were injured were airlifted to Germany for treatment while those who died were taken to America for burial. In 2009, America’s newly elected president Barrack Obama declared the withdrawal of the American troops in America in an 18 month period. However, approximately 50,000 American soldiers had to remain in Iraq, to train the Iraq soldiers how to guard their country. As at December 2011, the Americans declared the end of the Iraq War, and they all left the country.
The Experience of the US Soldiers in the Iraq War
During the war in Iraq, the US soldiers experienced many things. Notably, there was resistance from the civilians among other things. Here are different things experienced by the soldiers.
Firstly, the American soldiers experienced resistance from the Iraq civilians who were
against the invasion by the American troops into their country. According to the Iraq civilians, this was against the international law. Despite the fact that the possession of weapons of mass destruction was dangerous for the safety of the citizens of Iraq, they believed there was a better way of sorting that. This opposition from the Iraq’s citizens was humiliating and interfered with their process of looking for the crude weapons. The American army was good, but needed cooperation of the citizens for them to carry out their search successfully. However, a few citizens cooperated with them and this made their mission sophisticated. Regarding the resistance by the Iraq civilians, the American soldiers experienced a hard mission.
Secondly, the American soldiers experienced many fatalities at the Iraq War. Arguably, the American soldiers are among the best army troops in the world. However, they experienced hard times in Iraq since the Iraq terror group had crude weapons for attacking them. The war in Iraq lasted for 11 years and during this period; arguably, thousands of the American soldiers died while many others escaped with serious injuries. This was a fatal experience for the American soldiers as most of the American citizens were bereaved. Additionally, the soldiers experienced a mass death of the Iraq citizens through the mass bombings. There were ethnicity issues in Iraq for a long time, and when the soldiers invaded there, the Iraq groups took advantage to attack each other. The common attacks were where the Muslims attacked the non-Muslims minorities and blamed the American troops.
Thirdly, the American troops experienced harsh climatic conditions that interfered with their performance in the War. Notably, America usually has low humidity. Contrary to that, Iraq is hot mostly. This different weather patterns affected the American soldiers. It made them experience adverse weather conditions that affected their performance sometimes. While the war
against the Iraq weapons was proceeding, some of the Americas soldiers became ill, and they
had to be airlifted back to America. Whenever they were infected, other soldiers were airlifted to Iraq to replace the infected ones. This was a tricky move since the new soldiers moved to Iraq were to start learning what the other ones had already familiarized.
Lastly, the American soldiers experienced challenging geographical features in Iraq. The war in Iraq was impromptu, and the American soldiers had not had time to study the features of Iraq. When they intruded Iraq on March 20, they were not familiar with the geographical pattern of the country, and it was hard to know the location of their enemies.
The American Soldiers Stand Against the War
Despite the fact that the American soldiers decided to invade Iraq, they previously had been against the war. The Americans did not think intrusion into Iraq was the best option for them. Initially, Iraq had reportedly to be in possession of weapons of mass destruction. These weapons meant to fight America, United Kingdom and their companions. Regarding that, the US government declared war against Iraq. However, the American soldiers were against the move. They were not ready to fight the Iraq terror group since there was not any confirmation about the possession of weapons. Initially, the United Kingdom investigative department had launched an inspection in Iraq for the search of the weapon.
Arguably, the soldiers were als...
