Human beings are social and keep on endeavoring to improve his relationship with others. At times, the need to look for new connections and search for answers about vexing situations tempts an individual to avoid keeping vital information private. When it happens, the consequences are sweeping depending on the content in use. People have different opinions about the value of public sharing, but responses vary depending on the context of information shared, the method, the community involved as well as time and manner of revelation. Nevertheless, public exposure is often harmful, and people should share private information with only the trusted and close families.
People are often afraid to engage others deeply in their intimate environments. Some individuals take advantage of others privacy and the increased cases of information misuse have prompted many people to look for new help from online communities. Most importantly, people join to benefit more from the public and in such a case they must give some details about their personal life. However and most damaging, online technology has significantly assisted online predators in carrying out their criminal activity with ease.
Regardless of one's need, it is important to keep off from strange sharing to avoid considerable harm. A notable disadvantage with too much disclosure is backlash particularly on highly personal matters such as political stand and religious affiliation. When such information is available online, it is very hard to avoid bigoted feedbacks which can affect one’s feelings for long. People cannot increasingly connect; which is elemental for human survival but should do it safely to avoid falling prey to online predation. There are so many people disguised to help but their primary intention is to harm.
In other cases, cyber-bullying has emerged due to increased use of social networks. When teens or young children overly expose their details in the social media, they often become targets of a cyber-bully. It is a phenomenon that harasses teens and even if strangers promise them privacy, they should be cautious about who they engage online. It’s not all are out there for good reason hence the need for personal responsibility. It is also an unfortunate case that teens often trust connections that they meet online and readily share personal thoughts, feelings and other details with virtual strangers.
One of the most widespread victimization of innocent people is identity theft. As a note, if wise enough, it is possible to access all information that someone posts on the internet.
