Obama’s Interpretation
It is clear that president Obama’s interpretation of the president War Powers was in the best interest of the United States, for as long as there is eminent danger due to ISIS terror activities. However, this was without much thought and consideration of the consequences of starting a unilateral war against ISIS. Also, it is almost undisputable that Obama was more interested in exercising the president War Powers and to also leave behind a legacy of his term in office. Therefore, this warrants a review of the president War Powers to avoid possible abuse of the powers in the future.
Position of Congress
Though the Obama administration has failed to live up to the 60-day provision of the War powers Resolution, it is still important that Congress supports the fight against ISIS. This is because of the ever looming danger due to the activities of such terror groups. However, it also calls for the Obama administration to work with the Congress so as to achieve the common goal of defeating ISIS faster.
Public Opinion
Regardless of the fact that, at the moment, public opinion is negative about president Obama’s response to ISIS, with collaboration between the president and the Congress the opinion might change to a positive one. In addition to that, with the realizatio...
