The project engagement was a long process of research and information analysis for both my group and I. We settled on dividing up the paper into several parts for performance efficiency. The division also brought in our diverse skills and abilities into the work. All members agreed to essential thresholds to be met for each section allocated to a group member. It necessary to divide up the work and agree on the grounds to be covered to ensure uniformity of direction when the paper was combined. The client Glasgow Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra deal in a rather rare trade which implied a whole new exposure in the course of our project. The uniqueness of our exposure demanded that we first acquaint ourselves not only to the client’s niche but also to the wider traditional music scope.
Living in the modern music era, traditional music particularly orchestras have become such a rare occurrence that it took considerable time learning and understanding the orchestra market. Beyond the new exposure, the timing was a great concern. It was a challenge meeting the time requirements of the project as it involved cooperation among numerous team members. Being a group effort, every member was required to go through the work done by the rest of the team, understand it, make additions and also note deviations from the objective of the process. In resolving these challenges, I consistently worked and consulted with the rest of the team. Whenever I or anyone else in the group was stuck, we would all assist them to ensure we remain on schedule and deliver quality work. I found working with my team an enabling experience particularly for their support and divergent views on almost all the areas of the report. The difference in thinking and perception was quite a challenge as it required all the team members to bring the best of their efforts.
Group work requires utmost cooperation and adherence to the schedule. Given the scope of our report and the available time, it was quite a challenge having all the required parts ready in time and combining the work to flow as desired. While the team would finish the research and compilation in time, the challenge would arise in the combination of the works by the different members. The work needed to retain the expected flow without deviation. The members had to go through the works to check for departures from the requirements. At times, we would find clashing ideas and slight deviations. Which we resolved by collectively relooking at the requirements and the work to make or recommend amendments to the team member handling the area. Getting the team to flow synchronously in ideas was a challenge. Every member brought in their perceptions and views, and we had to create time for harmonization of these divergent views. Whenever the team encountered a problem, we would resolve it by collectively brainstorming and compromising on the best-fit solution.
The Glasgow Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra were very accommodating to us and all our inquiries. The group leader was in charge of the client cooperation to support easier and structured interaction. All the queries and clarifications were made through the leader who liaised with the customer through their various communication platforms to ensure we had all the necessary information. Glasgow Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra were very accommodating and available for communication. The orchestra provided us with several communication platforms and was also kind enough to introduce us to their niche offering as much relevant information as they could. Their availability and ease in providing information were an important pillar in the success of this report.
Liaising with our supervisor was the most constructive experience of the project. The supervisor was a constant helper who shared his opinions and was ready to help our team whenever we called on him. The supervisor enabled the objectivity of this project as he made the aim of the project clear from the start. Above that, he was very thorough and to the detail while supervising our work which ensured we remained focused and corrected deviations whenever he noted some. The supervisor’s input and guidance are evident in every stage of the repor...
