Blogging is a trending practise that has surpassed the expectations of people in the current years. Blogging started as a little platform of sharing experience, thoughts, and review, but it has currently developed into an adorable practice in branding. Most marketing experts have bought in the idea. Initially, it began as a way of having an online personal weblog, whereby an individual would journal important aspects concerning their day; the practice was then branded as a blog. Other than being an essential practice in digital marketing, the blog has currently become a home business. A blog is defined as an online journal available on the internet managed by bloggers (Goldie, 2016). In most often, most people confuse blogs with websites, as they tend to share some characteristics. However, numerous features differentiate a blog from a website.
It is undeniable that blogs currently control millions of viewers with their appeal and accessibility, something that could not be achieved by traditional media. They serve as an online “best friend” for thousands of users, and many people are currently joining the bloggers' community (Edge, 2016). However, although blogging is increasingly dominating the digital world, especially with regards to media marketing, a whole side of it is being misunderstood, especially by the journalists. Consequently, this has led to a lot of stigmatization, and significant challenges have arisen from such misunderstandings. Unfortunately, the journalists who should be at the forefront to support blogs and bloggers are the ones who seem to be strong anti-blogging. The undertaking of the essay, therefore, indulges into an extensive analysis of the blogging practice to gain insights on some of the features of blogs differentiating them from websites, as well as why blogging is becoming more popular.
