Global Forced Quarantine after a Disease Outbreak
Forced isolation after a disease outbreak is a practise many countries embark on. While some countries propose voluntary self-quarantine at home, others embark on forced quarantine in government facilities. According to the CDC, voluntary self-quarantine for people exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms and social distancing for others would “flat the COVID-19 curve” (Hickok, 2020, p.1). With the spread of motaba, in Outbreak movie, a US government detained people in military detainee camps in Cedar (Cook, 2011, p.51). Flu movie also portrays government containment where every infected person was held to prevent new infections. Collective security through forced isolation and violence against the infected is well depicted in two movies, including the “Outbreak” (1995) and “Flu” (2013).
