Proposal for New Magazine Name: Institution: Instructor: Subject: Date: Background Malaysia has faced stiff challenges related to health care issues in the recent past thus raising concerns on the credibility of the lifestyles of individuals in the multiracial country. Apart from the notorious H1N1 pandemic that nearly brought the country into looming extinction back I 2009, mischievous complications resulting from poor lifestyle greatly affect Malaysian citizens (Choffnes, Mack, & Relman 2010). These complications ultimately result from a poor work-life balance among the citizens. They include; Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity, stroke, and even Hyponatremia. The aforementioned diseases pose a significant threat in the social and economic wellbeing of Malaysia, and especially in the country’s quest to attain desirable Millennium Development Goals in the health sector. Consequently, the cost of medication is on the rise due to the existing economic challenges facing the global market. For this reason, it is apparent for Malaysians to emulate new ways of life that can prevent them from being victims of such emerging diseases. By creating a health fitness magazine, it will be feasible for Malaysians to consolidate what they learn from the articles to their real life situations. The magazine is however consistent will the UH policies pertaining to the respect for others. Proposal: Health Fitness Magazine (HFM) 1. Mission Health Fitness Magazine (HFM) is committed to promoting community health and the enjoyment of outdoor fitness activities in a nation where both time and energy are precious commodities. Our main intention is to develop a publication that is easy to read and fulfils the fitness needs of Malaysian citizens through the promotion of environmental awareness. 2. Concept HFM will entirely focus on the physical fitness of its readers by providing them with an extensive section about each and every level of energy physical exertion presented by an icon of the scale between 1 to 4 (1- moderate exertion activities while 4- high exertion exercises). 3. Objectives (a) To disseminate information about outdoor fitness activities in Malaysia in order to enhance healthy living. (b) To provide information on ways of managing complications such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and stroke among other complications. (c) To constitute a lively physical, educational and even scientific forum for health issues. (d) To promote social, cultural, and economic integration among Malaysians. 4. Editorial Line (Contents) HFM will endeavor to be both academic and technical in nature with topics covering various types of emerging health complications, methods of preventing and controlling those complications through physical fitness activities, and a clear, healthy eating guide. 5. Physical Characteristics (a) The magazine will be published in both the Malaysian language (Bahasa Malaysia) and English language. (b) The HFM Publishing House will entirely determine the print run. Organizational structure Health Fitness Magazine organizational structure will comprise the following; the Editorial Board (EB), the Publishing House (PH), and the HFM Secretariat. 7. These include print media that comprise of business cards and brochures, direct marketing, TV adverts, and internet marketing. Distribution strategy HFM magazine will be available at the customer’s convenience. In addition, the management of HFM will liaise with major supermarkets in the city to assist in the distribution of its products.
