The results intensified the debate on whether the electoral college system of electing the country's president is still relevant at the present times. Many political scholars and political scientists have made arguments that described the plan as undemocratic, complicated, and dangerous. This paper outlines the purpose of the electoral college as intended by the founding fathers and how the system has evolved over the years before expounding the contentious issues that make it unsuitable in modern times.
