Background Information
 Environmental concerns have increased at a high rate over the past Century. Traditionally humans have been using the environment without looking back to check the damage they have been causing. Growing environmental concerns spiked from the middle of the 20th Century after our degraded planet's images were captured on photographs from space. This realization has thus prompted mass environmental conscious behavior and outlook from many people on the planet who feel we are doing more harm to our natural resources in the name of capitalism and trying to make a living. Sharon Beder and Andrew Dobson have conducted studies and written literal texts explaining some great points of view and approaches proposed and used to make more environmentally conscious choices. The United Nations also released a list of 17 sustainable development goals, which were to guide all member states and be assimilated by the entire world to drive the planet to a better future (2030) where we would have practiced sustainable development.This essay seeks to scrutinize sustainable development.
Sustainable development is the current generation's ability to benefit from natural resources abundant on our planet without necessarily having to rid future generations of the ability to enjoy the same benefits we enjoy from natural resources today. Sustainability seeks to build a sense of Equity between the present and future generations. The goal of Environmental sustainability alongside sustainable development is to ensure that the natural resources available can be used efficiently for intra-generational purposes and inter-generational. Sustainable development means that natural resources should transcend all living beings transcending all age groups and go past into the future.
