Assessment Description
The purpose of this individual assignment is to foster students’ ability to discuss and reflect on the main aspects of destination and visitor management through concept mapping of their personal learning experiences. This will enable students to showcase their ability to be active learners by reflecting on visitor and destination management theories and concepts covered in weeks 1 to 12.
More importantly, this reflective summary will allow students to practise their personal development concept mapping skills, which are necessary in today’s business world.
Assessment Instructions
For an optimum outcome, the reflective summary should be started at the beginning of week one and continued throughout at least weekly. The key questions that you should ask yourself are:
➢ How have your learning experiences and the significant knowledge and skills you have developed during this subject affected you?
Reflection requires you to observe, describe and make meaning of experiences closely. Whereas critical reflection requires you to take one step further. It requires you to analyse, reconsider and question your learning experiences by relating them to your previous knowledge and skills. Based on this, you can decide on changes (improvements) in your future personal development as a leader in the tourism and hospitality sector.
In preparing this summary, you will need to write a detailed critical reflection of the following aspects:
• Your view of destination and visitor management practices before entering MBA653.
• Your goal of entering MBA653 about the subject matter.
• Your reflection on what you have learnt about destination and visitor management during MBA653.
• The destination and visitor management areas that have interested you the most and why.
• Make proposals on developing yourself further in your professional career.

Destination and Visitor Management
This is a critical area in that I have found a lot of interest when it comes to showing developing my skills in management practice. Before entering MBA653, I visited several places and learned what it takes to approach and guide visitors. At my high school level, I also visited several places such as the sand beaches, parks, and luxurious hotels. There are so many destinations to visit in Australia and it is hard to pin a point on the map and I have narrowed down to give a summary of a few. The Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia was my first place to visit and things turned out to be fantastic. The Ningaloo Reef is home to tropical fish, manta rays, and turtles (Divisekera et al, 2018) formed groups of 5 people whereby I was selected as a leader.
The main aim of the visit was to formulate a report after gathering relevant information for the research paper. As the leader, I was to mobilize the groups and ensure that everyone participates in data collection. The collection of information was done manually through the recording of information in a notebook (Renz et al, 2018). I found visiting the place to be enthusiastic as the people at the place were welcoming, respectful, and caring. The place was full of people from all ethnicities and backgrounds who had come for refreshments during the holiday. The hospitality portrayed by the people though me a lot about visitor management. In the tourism sector, a tourism destination that is peaceful and its people portray high standards of code of conduct, the place becomes a center of tourist attraction.
The goal of Entering MBA653
Before entering MBA653, I had less knowledge regarding visitor management people need to be treated when they are new to new places. I never understood what it takes for the hospitality industry to attract a lot of customers and other related partners. This helped me to develop the skills in advertising the services that are offered within the region. The main aim of entering MBA653 was to develop my knowledge and sharpen my skills related to the hospitality and tourism industry. Learn how to work with team members with intention of achieving set goals and objectives. Destination and visitor management is an ever-evolving industry that will require that I understand the routes that need to be undertaken to ensure that we can provide outstanding services to our clients (Albrecht and Raymond, 2022). To expand my knowledge on how different stakeholders can be brought in to ensure that we provide sustainable visitor destinations.
This will be critical in my profession as I will understand how to develop destination plans for the future putting into consideration economic, social and cultural risks and opportunities. In line with the destination management organizations, we shall work in line with other tourism destination
