Introduction
The sentencing of the offenders is an issue that the general public becomes interested in all the time. They may have a passion more than even the judges. The public attitude to the manner judges impose sentences determines to a greater extent the state of public confidence in the judicial system (Freixo 2019). However, as a judge undertakes the ruling and the sentencing of the offenders, it is important for the judge not just to focus on punishment, deterrence and denunciation; rather, one should ensure that there is balance in the sentencing of the offenders.
