AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS AND ETHICS
Autonomous systems are those systems that have been designed and programmed to operate independent of human intervention to achieve the desired goals. They can include robot designed for war, to drive cars, to go to space and several other robots in our world today. The question of interest is "how ethical and moral are these systems?”It can be argued that they have made a tremendous effect in our world today. The economy of many nations has improved by the use of these systems in our industries today.
Rocket science is a discipline that entails the study of rockets as autonomous regimes, has revolutionized the capacity for space exploration. The reality is that most of these systems release fumes that are adverse to the environment. For instance, the emissions produced by the rockets and other war missile bombs have not only depleted the ozone layer causing global warming, but also caused serious harmful effects to humanity. The use of microcontroller based intelligent systems in the manufacture of vehicles and machinery has resulted in the production of defective machines most of which are mostly involved in the many deaths witnessed in our transportation channels today. These automated systems have however improved the speeds, accuracy and efficiency to some limited extents.(Duncan,1997,p 103)
The technology in the military and defense departments of most developed nations has ever since evolved to use remotely controlled intelligent systems that cause mass destruction and also loss of human lives. This is against human dignity and respect for life and hence undesirable.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND THE INDUSTRY
Project management involves careful planning and execution of a particular task to the required standards and specifications by the client in the picture. A project in the other hand refers to the specific task or work that should be done within the agreeable time. The tasks involved are controlled by a project manager who oversees all the operations involved in the project implementation. Projects, to be executed, should be specific, measurable, attainable, reliant and time bound. Therefore, when planning for the projects execution and due completion date, time is paramount an aspect to consider prior.
